VET Products for the 21st Century
Overview of the Project
This project is now complete. The final report and communique are available below.
This project was a joint COAG/NQC initiative, and built on work done by the NQC during 2007 and the first half of 2008 in relation to identifying future directions for Training Packages but with an expanded scope of work to reflect the broader context of policy objectives identified by the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) for the VET sector.
The Joint Steering Committee of the National Quality Council (NQC) and the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) Skills and Workforce Development Subgroup was established to give effect to specific aspects of the COAG agenda to deliver significant improvements in human capital outcomes for all Australians.
The purpose of the Joint Steering Committee is to ensure that nationally recognised training products within the VET sector are flexible and responsive to changing industry, business and individual needs and workplace practices. This includes work on improving the design of units of competency, Training Packages, VET qualifications, credit systems and accredited courses to support reforms in relation to competition and contestability within the VET sector.
