List of priorities for the National Quality Council from the Framework for the New National Training System
For 2009, priorities for the National Quality Council include:
- SKILLS FOR SUSTAINABILITY - incorporation of sustainability skills into flexible and responsive VET products and promotion of a greater awareness of sustainability issues in the operations of RTOs.
- INTERNATIONAL VET - work on issues related to the quality assurance of onshore and offshore Australian VET delivery to international students.
- FRAMEWORK IMPLEMENTATION - implementation of a policy framework to ensure that VET qualifications and products meet the needs of businesses and industry and equip individuals with broadly based skills and knowledge.
- NATIONAL CONSISTENCY - achievement of a strong, nationally consistent application of quality assurance arrangements for the national training system through the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF).
- QUALITY OF ASSESSMENT - work to address perceptions across the national training system that the quality of assessment practices needs to improve.
- TRAINING PACKAGE PROCESSES - improvement of quality assurance processes for the development and endorsement of Training Packages and Training Package support materials.
- GRADED ASSESSMENT - further work in developing a set of national guidelines to achieve a level of consistency with regards to purpose, approach and reporting of graded assessment.
- EQUITY - work to ensure that the NQC's policies, products and services contribute to the creation of an inclusive VET system and do not exclude or unfairly disadvantage potential learners.
