AQTF Excellence Criteria

The AQTF Excellence Criteria may be used voluntarily by registered training organisations to continue improving the quality of their training and assessment and to gain recognition of their performance. 

A Trial of the Australian Quality Training Framework Excellence Criteria conducted for the National Quality Council (NQC) by TVET Australia is now complete.  The NQC has received a Report on the Evaluation of the Trial of the Excellence Criteria and considered a range of recommendations in relation to the findings of the evaluation.   The report advised the NQC that the Excellence Criteria can be sustainably implemented in the long term with a contribution of public funds to offset administrative and establishment costs in the first two years of operation.

The NQC has:

• Agreed to seek a determination from the Ministerial Council for Vocational and Technical Education (MCVTE) about an appropriate arrangement for administration of the Excellence Criteria; and
• Agreed that once MCVTE’s decision about administration has been made, implementation of the Excellence Criteria should proceed as soon as possible; and
• Confirmed the titles of the levels of recognition as Training Excellence – Gold and Training Excellence – Silver.

Sixteen Registered Training Organisations from around Australia participated in the Trial of the Excellence Criteria in 2008.  The outcomes of the evaluations undertaken as part of the Trial have been confirmed:
